SEPTEMBER IS THE MONTH OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS.
Twenty-Second Week of Ordinary Time
Dear parishioners,

Next Sunday, on 10th September from 12.00 noon, in loving memory of Bob Penny, St Thomas More parish invites you all to our Family Fun Day. Bob Penny gave so much to his parish over many years in the organisation and promotion of many happy celebrations supporting family life in the parish. One of my first celebrations in the parish was a family disco organised by the Social Club, of which Bob was the dedicated Chairman for many years, and he introduced me to many more people in our parish.
We miss Bob greatly, but in supporting family life through parish celebrations that also help to raise money for the parish as he did, we honour his memory in the best way possible. The 11 o’clock mass on Sunday 10th will also be offered for the repose of Bob’s soul.

This will help a lot in knowing the quantity of food we need to purchase. If you are able to help -out in any way, please let us know. We still need more raffle prizes. If you have any new items still in their packaging boxes that you do not need and could donate, these would be welcome.
We are also looking for any bottled items for a bottle tombola: these bottles can include wine, spirits, beer, olive oil, non-alcoholic drinks, sauces, tabasco etc.
On Sunday 10th, we will thank God for our parish family through fun after mass, but every Sunday we celebrate family life at the Holy Sacrifice of the mass. The parish supports our parents in the passing on of a strong catholic identity to our children in a hostile world. What can parents do to strengthen the catholic identity of their families?
Start with:
1. Bringing your family to Holy Mass every week, come rain or shine, no matter where you are and show that the worship of Almighty God, our creator, comes first.
2. Making your confessions, twice a year at least, so that you are prepared to receive Holy Communion in a state of grace.
3. Receiving Holy Communion with visible reverence to the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the sacrament, on the tongue and kneeling if you can.
4. Raising your children in Holy Matrimony so that Christ is King of your family homes and with help of the prayers of Mary, Queen of the Family protecting you.
5. Doing good works for the benefit of one another in the family, in the parish and in the community.
God Bless
Fr. Jonathon
