Saturday 14th September - Sunday 22nd September 2024

Twenty-Fourth Week of ordinary time

Fr. Innocent’s INDUCTION.

Fr Innocent’s Induction to the Parish will be on Saturday 21st September at 12.00 noon followed by a reception in the hall.

Mass will be celebrated by the Right Reverend Philip Moger, who was ordained as the Titular Bishop of Glastonia in February last year. Bishop Philip has also previously served in the Dioceses of Leeds and has also been the Rector at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Bishop Philip was appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop of Southwark in 2022 and has just been appointed as the Bishop of Plymouth by His Holiness Pope Francis.

All parishioners are invited to welcome our new parish priest.

We are also looking for musicians, cleaning volunteers and helpers to make tea/coffee. There are separate food and drink donation lists in the porch for you to put your name on.

If you are available to assist in anyway in preparing for this celebration, please contact Fr. Innocent or the parish office.

YOUTH RETREAT.

The next Diocesan Youth Retreat for 13-17 year olds will be on Saturday 12 October at St. John Fisher School, City Way, Rochester, ME1 2AE. The day will be delivered by the Dominicans on the theme of "Prayer". Don't miss out! Group leaders and parents book at tinyurl.com/retreat12oct.

HCPT GOLF DAY on Thursday 19th September at Pedham place golf club. There will be the usual chance for parish non- golfers to help towards HCPT raffle by purchasing tickets after Mass. For any enquiries or those pleased to me call 07833707016.

Supporting our HCPT Golf Day will help raise money to help take children and adults with disabilities to Lourdes. HCPT stands for Hosanna House and Children's Pilgrimage Trust. Hosanna House is the property the organisation owns in the hills above Lourdes, where HCPT groups stay with their helpers on pilgrimages to Lourdes.

Parish Family Fun Day.

Due to lack of interest and the close proximity of Fr. Innocent’s induction, it has been decided to cancel the Family Fun Day this year. Any donations already made towards this event will be put towards the parish Christmas Fair which will be in December.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.

As a parish, we currently only have 4 active Eucharistic Ministers, so we are looking recruit more to assist with distribution of the Holy Eucharist at mass and to the sick and housebound. If you are interested in joining the team, please see Fr. Innocent or contact the parish office.

THURSDAY LUNCH CLUB.

Next meeting: Thursday 12th September at 12.00 noon in the hall.

FOOD BANK.

Donations can be made in the crate in the Church Porch and they are taken to the Bexley Food Bank on a Monday morning.

NOTICE ON ST THOMAS MORE CHURCH SOCIAL CLUB BAR.

The Bar will remain closed until further notice due to new licensing requirements.  However, the Parish Social Club Evenings will still meet up on Sundays from 7.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m., with parishioners bringing their own drinks and food to share.

Entrance Mat Fundraising.

Thanks to the initiative of one of our parishioners, a large mat has been designed with our parish name and logo for the porch. It had been noted that on rainy days, water was damaging the polished wooden floor and created a slip hazard. The mat has been designed specifically for our porch and will cost £1000 to make. Donations can be made in all of the usual ways. See the poster in the porch for further information.
